Borongan Mayor to offer job to a new NPA surrenderee; urges others to surrender

BORONGAN CITY, Jan 7 (PIA) -- Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda in an interview said that he is ready to offer a job to the new NPA surrenderee who hails from Borongan City.

Sherry Mae, 27 a native of Borongan was an activist at the PUP while studying and became a full-time NPA in 2015 and operated in the mountains of Abra, Ilocos and the Cordillera, based on her testimonies in a presscon held on Tuesday at the National Press Club in Intramuros, Manila.

"I am happy that Sherry Mae gave her parents a happy new year with her surrender," said Agda. He added that he is willing to offer her a job based on her qualifications.

He added that he readily assisted the transport needs of the family to fetch their 'long lost' daughter.

Agda then talked of encouraging the others to surrender.

"The LGU is doing its best to provide equal opportunities for all."

He said he believes that good governance will emit a signal to the rebels that the government is willing to help them as they join the mainstream.

The chief executive said that the army is just part of the insurgency solution.

The implementation of Executive Order Number 70 or the act Creating the Task Force-End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC), he thinks is best as "all instrumentalities, all agencies and all sectors are all working to end the insurgency."

As to his administration, Agda believes that his support to the security forces with the provision of CAFGU Active Auxiliaries which the city employs is part of the whole-of-nation-approach to end the insurgency.

He also believes that it is not only the provision of the security forces but also good governance that will finally end the conflict.

And he promised to provide it.

He said that when it is then peaceful when the insurgency is solved, then "we can focus on the economic activities where everyone will be benefited."

For this young top executive, he promises all Boronganons good governance, equal opportunities, and an environment where they can achieve their dreams. (nbq/PIA E. Samar)
