132 contractual Caloocan LGU employees now hold permanent items

CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 8 (PIA) -- Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan on Thursday regularized 132 contractual and job order workers who have been serving Caloocan City for years.

′′We prioritized [our] City Hall employees who have been serving Caloocan residents for more than 30 and 20 years but have not yet been given regular positions [by previous administrations]," Mayor Oca said.

"Most of them are street sweepers, engineering and admin aides, and there are also day care workers," he added.

Aside from this, the local government bared that there were at least 100 regular employees in the city who have been promoted under Malapitan's "continuous program." These employees, the government said, have not received any promotion for several years prior.

According to Human Resource and Management Office head Ms. Lorilei Del Carmen, despite some challenges posed by the pandemic, the mayor wanted to also give attention to the regularization program of the local government.

′′I and the group of Day Care Workers who paid attention to our status as a job order are very grateful. Several mayors have been seated but we are only noticed and made regular, under our beloved Mayor Oca," said Ma. Isabel Clima who has served as a day care worker for over 31 years.

Mayor Oca said this is his way of thanking them for their long service, dedication, and concern for the welfare of Caloocan.

′′There should be no politics in service. For some years [of] serving the Caloocan people, they deserve to be regular City Government employees," he said. (PIA NCR)
