RDRRMC to LGUs: Conduct pre-emptive evacuation as deemed necessary

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Dec. 19 (PIA) - - -Due to the continuous moderate to heavy rainfall being experience in the region due to Northeast Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression Vicky, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) here urged local government units (LGUs) to conduct pre-emptive evacuation as deemed necessary. 

As of 1:30 PM today, the RDRRMC has raised its alert status to 'Red Alert' due to the possible effects of the continuous moderate to heavy rains in the region.

Office of the Civil Defense Regional Director Harold Cabreros who is also the chair of the CVDRRMC, said LGUs are directed to conduct pre-emptive evacuation particluarly to flood and landslide prone barangays.

"Ensure that minimum health standards are strictly followed in evacuation centers such as but not limited to social distancing, wearing of face mask and other health safety measures set by the local health offices," Cabreros said in his memorandum to LDRRMCs.

The Regional Response Agencies and local rapid deployment teams and responders are also directed to tbe on prepositioned and alert status.

On the other hand, as of 1:30 PM today, two gates of Magat Dam with 2 meters opening each, were opened by the NIA-Magat River Integrated Irrigation System.
