No truth to December 24 lockdown- Ilocos Norte gov’t

LAOAG CITY, December 24 (PIA) – In light of the information circulated online that there has been an alleged lockdown to be imposed on Christmas eve, the provincial government clarifies that there is not such announcements made by their office.
“We would like to clarify that the Provincial Government has not made any such announcement,” the provincial government said in an online post, opposing the fake news.
They later on cited that more recoveries are being recorded than active cases since the surge in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that happened in late November.
Because of this development, the provincial government being headed by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, stated there is no need to heighten the community quarantine level in Ilocos Norte.
Although residents will not be expecting any lockdown to happen on December 24, they are urged to follow COVID-19 prevention strategies to ensure a safe Christmas season that will not result to lockdowns.
“Furthermore, we advise the public to be more vigilant against fake news and trust only announcements or information from our official social media accounts,” the Ilocos Norte government added.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also disproves reports there will be a lockdown from December 23, 2020 until January 3 this next year.
“Fake news din na magkaka-lockdown daw po mula December 23 hanggang January 3, 2021. Ito po iyong mga walang hiya na gusto lang sirain ang ating Pasko,” Sec. Roque said.
As of December 22, there are 51 active cases, 420 recoveries, 3 death, and 474 total confirmed cases in the province. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB PIA ILOCOS NORTE)
