DTI MisOcc's Love Lokal features local fashion creations

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, Dec. 17 (PIA)--The Department Trade Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental and Otop Philippines Hub Ozamiz in partnership with Victor Tusing of Boyboy Tusing Fashion House and Cielo Cervantes of Senina Fashion, Subanen Weavers Association, Bucarco, and Coco Coir has officially launched its LoveLokal virtual fashion show showcasing the products and creations of Misamis Occidental.

LoveLokal fashion show is a video promotional campaign to “buy local” as part of efforts to revive the local economy and show that the pandemic could not stop Filipinos from celebrating Christmas.
 
“This is the first in the region and I understand that this is not just the usual pabonggahan (show off) trade or pabonggahan fashion show but this is for a cause,” DTI-10 Regional Director Linda Boniao said.

Boniao encouraged the locals of the province to support and to inspire local designers, props men and tailors, or even tailoring shops so the latter can upscale their product. The designers are also urged to join DTI’s product promotion campaign and product development.

For her part, DTI Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan said, "Despite the pandemic our DTI Office and Otop Philippines is continuously adding value to every known local product in the province both food and non-food.

Tabucan also thanked local MSMEs for their dedication in keeping the economy moving by constantly creative products that they can call 'Buhat sa Misamis Occidental.'

Meanwhile, Otop Hub MisOcc General Manager Jeffklein Glodove said the entire concept revolves around highlighting the local industry in Misamis Occidental.

“This includes the development for the local textile industry, the waving communities as well as the collaboration of our local designers who will in term maximize the output. The bounties of Misamis Occidental is evident in our unlimited supply of bangus sardines, ginisang alamang, ginamos and even our processed fruits and nuts,” he said.

DTI-MisOcc has also been in constant engagement with the Abaca weavers in Tudela and has conducted training for Bamboo shared facilities in Clarin and Subanen weavers of Gala in Ozamiz City and even with the Coco coir facility in Panaon.

The virtual fashion show is also supported by Johann’s Cuisine, Johann's Crossing, Johann's Dragon Fruit Ice Cream, Geisha Studio Productions, Watazu, and Bryant MIlling and Marketing.(SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
