DAR distributes CLOA to 720 ARBs in ZamPen

PAGADIAN CITY, Dec. 21 (PIA) – The agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Zamboanga Peninsula are overjoyed that they have received the certificate of landownership award (CLOA) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), which they have longed to receive.

Secretary John Castriciones himself spearheaded the distribution of CLOA titles to 720 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ABBs) in Zamboanga Peninsula, held at the Executive Function Hall, City Mayor’s Office.

The distributed CLOA titles were accepted by ARBs in three provinces: Zamboanga Sibugay - 288, Zamboanga del Sur-353, and Zamboanga del Norte -79.

Castriocenes said he personally handed over land titles to farmers because the government loves the farmers. "According to PRRD, the agricultural sector is the poorest sector in our community so we must take care of them and love them," Castriciones added.

"You are now the new owners of the land and you are no longer just ordinary farmers," Castriocenes proudly announced.

The Secretary said that it is very difficult to prepare and create land titles for farmers because it has gone through 22 stages.

“Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the DAR’s staff sacrificed to go to remote and inaccessible areas to identify the farmers, survey the lands and make technical descriptions and have the survey plan be approved by the DENR before the land title will be released,” he explained.

He said that for the longest time, the farmers feel that they are the victims of social injustices.

"We don't want that to happen at this administration because what we want our farmers to feel is that this administration or this government loves them and we would like to uplift the economic lives of our farmers," Castriciones concluded.

He also urged farmers that during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to unite, cooperate and pray to the Lord because nothing is impossible for him.

During the event, the certificates of full payment were also distributed to the ARBs. (RVC/GCC/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur)
