Capiz info officers, offices get PIA awards

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 16 (PIA) – Three government information offices in the province made it to the Philippine Information Agency – 6 regional search for Best Performing Information Office Award category this year.

The awardees are Roxas City Communications Group, Tapaz Information Office of Tapaz municipal government and Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The search’ individual award for Best Performing Information Officers in Western Visayas will also be conferred to Capiceño government spokerspersons, namely, FO2 Don Anthony Falcis of the Bureau of Fire Protection - Roxas City and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Capiz PIO Florie May Castro.

Capiz Police Provincial Office PIO Police Executive Master Sergeant Donna Asmod will also be conferred the Hall of Fame Award for being the Best Performing Information Officer in years 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The search’ online awarding of the best performing information offices, information officers and agency publications is scheduled during the Information Officers Year-End Conference and Awards on December 17 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning.

“This year’s gathering is anchored on the theme “Strengthening Information Dissemination Amid the Pandemic.” It underscores the role of every individual in the effective dissemination of timely, accurate and relevant information in this time of pandemic,” said PIA 6 OIC regional head Jemin Guillermo.

The virtual gathering will be graced by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles and PIA Director General Ramon Cualoping III, among others, as guests of honor and speakers.

The PIA regional office yearly initiative aims to recognize and award the information offices/units in their collective efforts in promoting development through IEC activities.

It also intends to create a deeper consciousness among information officers of the importance of their offices and their roles in furthering the goals of the development thrust/programs of governance by bridging the gap between people and ideas, technology and practice. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
