Almost 6,000 QC LGU regular employees now provided with healthcare insurance

CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 13 (PIA) -- Regular employees of the Quezon City government are now protected from the burden of healthcare costs as the local government enrolled them under healthcare and insurance plans.

The said plans cover 5,962 current regular city government employees and new hires with one year of coverage. These were procured in agreement with government-owned Cocolife.

“The local government only paved the way to make this possible for our employees. This has been long overdue and we’re just happy to finally provide our civil servants with some kind of support in terms of healthcare,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte, noting that this was the first initiative of its kind in the city government’s history.

Under the plan, the employee or ‘member’ is entitled to a maximum benefit limit of P100,000 per illness in a year.

Other benefits include annual physical examination, out-patient services such as diagnostic procedures, minor surgeries, speech and physical therapy, prenatal and postnatal care, dental coverage, and life insurance.

“We’re currently exploring other flexible terms to extend these healthcare plans to our non-plantilla employees so they won't be burdened with hefty contributions," said Belmonte. (QC PAISD/PIA-NCR)
