1st Northern Luzon swine breeding center inaugurated

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Dec. 14 (PIA) - The first-ever modernized swine breeding center in Northern Luzon was recently inaugurated by no less than Agriculture Secretary William Dar.

The swine breeding center is a joint venture of Charoen Pokhand Incorporated of Thailand and the Sagittarian Agricultural Philippines Incorporated located at Sta. Victoria, City of Ilagan, Isabela.

The P500-million swine breeding complex will be the source of quality breeder stocks for re-stocking/repopulation of swine to help stabilize hog supply in Cagayan Valley and in nearby regions in Northern Luzon.

With this facility and the production complex, it will produce about 2,400 swine breeders. This will revolutionize swine production not only in Isabela, but also in the whole of Northern Luzon. This is just a replica of the modern agriculture that we want to have in the future,” said Dar.

City of Ilagan Mayor Josemarie Diaz expressed his thanks to DA Sec. William Dar for opening up the floodgates for aggressive expansion programs that encouraged companies like Charoen Pokhand to invest in the countryside.

“The entry of Chaoroen Pokhand, a leading agro-industrial and food conglomerate is a recognition of Ilagan’s potential in terms of agricultural production not only of grains products but also livestock production,” Diaz said.

He also lauded Dar for giving opportunities to the provinces in the country for opening up business opportunities relative to agriculture production and for helping farmers recover from the recent calamities that hit the province.

On the same occasion, Dar and Diaz also signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the construction of Ilagan Corn Processing Center which was witnessed by Provincial and DA officials. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-/Isabela)
