Caloocan deploys responders to Marikina

CALOOCAN CITY, Nov. 15 (PIA) -- The Caloocan City Governemnt on  Sunday deployed a composite contingent to flood-hit Marikina City to assist the disaster response efforts in the area.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Oca Malapitan said they have deployed a team of responders composing of personnel from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to augment Marikina's efforts.

"A team of Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Mangement Office (CDRRMO) and Bureau of Fire Protection-Caloocan were sent by the Caloocan City Government to Marikina City Command Center this morning to assist with the clearing operation being conducted," Malapitan said.

Malapitan also thanked each member of the contingent and wished them a safe and fruitful response mission in Marikina, notwithstanding the difficult challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

With the directive, the mayor said the Caloocan City Government "wants to take care of other areas that were severely affected by Typhoon Ulysses' onslaught, like Marikina City.

The contingent team left the Caloocan City Hall and immediately proceeded to Marikina City where they will be stationed until they are demobilized by the local incident management commander. (PIA NCR)
