PASIG CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA) -- The USAID’s TB Platforms, implemented by the University Research Co. LLC, recently met with the Paranaque City Health Office for a collaborative discussion after several months of remote mentoring on the proposed technical assistance packages for the implementation of Paranaque’s TB program.

Led by the USAID’s TB Platforms Field Operations and Area Manager Dr. Hansel Ybañez, the project team shared with Paranaque City Health Officer Dr. Olga Virtucio how the project will assist the city in implementing ‘FAST’ strategy or the “Find cases Actively, Separate safely, and Treat effectively” in public hospitals and health centers starting this October.

According to the USAID, the project will also assist in implementing patient-centered care at the Moonwalk Satellite Treatment Center and in setting up a primary care provider network and TB as the tracer program for the implementation of Universal Health Care in the city.

The USAID’s TB Platforms provides technical assistance to the Department of Health’s National Tuberculosis Control Program and its partner local government units and health facilities in strengthening their TB response amid COVID-19.

Likewise, the project supports community engagement and community-led interventions to promote health-seeking behavior, increase demand for TB services, and ultimately enable these communities to find and treat more TB cases. (PIA-NCR)
