TAGBILARAN CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA) -- The province of Bohol has launched the LAUM Bohol program as the province marks the seventh anniversary of the magnitude 7.2 Bohol Earthquake on Oct. 15, 2020.

LAUM Bohol is a program for all Boholanos, especially the youth.

It is the provincial government’s multi-sectoral response to use advocacy, education, counseling, sports, training, livelihood financing, culture and the arts to reach out, to aid, and to capacitate those who need a lifeline in these dark and troubling times, according to the Provincial Government Website.

It has five components: AMOMA (psychological, psychiatric intervention and crisis hotline); DUWA (sports); ABIBA (awareness and support group); DAYAG (arts, culture and history); and BANSAY (skills training).

During the launching program held at the ceremonial hall of the New Capitol here, Gov. Arthur Yap said the launching of the LAUM Bohol program is dedicated to building up the resiliency of the Boholanos by extending a helping hand to the weak, the faceless, the voiceless, and most especially, the youth of Bohol, who are suffering loneliness, depression, violence, poverty, fear, and uncertainty due to the pandemic.

By launching the program, the governor hopes that it may inspire everyone to join the cause of saving those who are lost, confused, and feeling hopeless, especially the children of Bohol.

Yap signed Executive Order No. 50 instituting the LAUM Bohol Program.

The governor also led the pledge of commitment joined by the different sectors to support this program for the Boholano youth.

During the program, six phones and sim cards were also turned over for the 24/7 suicide hotline at the AMOMA Center.

A holy mass officiated by Fr. Val Pinlac was celebrated prior to the launching program. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
