DOH-MMCHD recognizes LGU efforts on COVID-19 response

CALOOCAN CITY, Oct. 18 (PIA) --The Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) recognizes the cohesive efforts the Local Government Units (LGU) have done and are continuously doing to curb the cases COVID-19 in Metro Manila.

During the recent meeting of the Association of Health Officers in Metro Manila (AHOMM) held at the MMCHD Amphitheater in Mandaluyong City, MMCHD Regional Director Dr. Corazon Flores thanked the Metro Manila LGUs for their continues efforts in fighting the pandemic brought by COVID-19.

Selected LGUs were requested to share their best practices in COVID-19 response that are aligned to the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) and BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 Campaign of the DOH.

Dr. Jonathan Laya of Manila discussed their strategies when it comes to contact tracing. He also shared his expertise as a City Contact Tracing Manager. Dr. Alberto Herrera, City Health Officer of Marikina City pointed out the advantage of having their molecular testing laboratory.

 On the other hand, Dr. Jaime Exconde, City Health Officer of Valenzuela City showcased their protocols in properly isolating symptomatic cases of COVID-19. Dr. Cesar Encinares of Pasay City elucidated their experiences in the holistic citywide implementation of CODE.

And lastly, Dr. Joseph Panaaligan explained their strategies when it comes to Treatment pillar of the PDITR (Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treatment, Reintegrate) strategy.

Prior to the sharing of LGU experiences and best practices in COVID 19 resources, Dr. Amelia C. Medina, Chief of the Local Health Support Division presented a very vivid walkthrough of the chronicle of COVID 19 cases in Metro Manila since the start of the current year up to the current situation.

The meeting coincided with the 33rd Founding Anniversary of DOH MMCHD that focused on the theme: "Ngayong panahon ng pandemya, medical frontliners ang BIDA. The event also recognized the relentless service of the medical frontliners who are indeed the heroes of this pandemic.

Assistant Regional Director Dr. Maria Paz P. Corrales concluded the meeting with a message of sincere appreciation to all health workers. (MMCHD/PIA-NCR)
