DENR CagVal chief urges Vizcaya partner orgs to use aid efficiently

DUPAX DEL SUR, Nueva Vizcaya, Oct. 17 (PIA) - Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Director Gwendolyn Bambalan has urged partner organizations here to use the agency's assistance efficiently and effectively for their livelihood.

Bambalan, in a visit to the Forestland Management Project (FMP) at barangay Palabotan here also advised the members of the Palabotan Agroforest Development Association, Inc. (PADAI) to take care of their project and develop its resources to the fullest.

"Please use the resources provided to you efficiently and effectively. Develop the assistance given to you because this is for you," she said.

PADAI was earlier awarded with 428 hectares to be developed into agrofestry and fuelwood plantations. The area is within the Benay subwatershed in Dupax del Sur town.

The DENR also gave members of PADAI with start-up capital which they now use in organic fertilizer production and trading as alternative livelihood.

The project also funded agroforestry support facilities such as concrete access roads and irrigation pipelines to aid the economic activities not only of the members but also of the other residents in the community.

PADAI, with 179 members is one of the community-based people's organizations FMP implemented by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the province.

Erlindo Pudiquet, PADAI president assured Bambalan of their full support and help in the FMP, further thanking the DENR for their help in the upliftment of their economic status.# (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
