122 MSEs in Southern Leyte benefit DTI’s P3-CARES program

MAASIN CITY, Oct. 28 (PIA) -- A total of 122 Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) throughout Southern Leyte are beneficiaries of the “Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso” - COVID-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (P3-CARES), said Michael B. Nuñez, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry in Southern Leyte.

From the total number of beneficiaries, 40 are from the municipality of Sogod; 39 from Maasin City; 13 from Liloan; 12 from Saint Bernard; five (5) each from Malitbog and Silago towns; and  one (1) each from the municipalities of San Francisco, Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Tomas Oppus, Libagon, San Ricardo, Hinundayan and Hinunangan.

Funds released were as follows: P2.935-M for Maacin City; P2.33-M for Sogod; P955 thousand for Saint Bernard.

For other municipalities mentioned, the allocation were as follows: Macrohon - P500,000; Padre Burgos - P20,000; Malitbog - P290,000; Tomas Oppus - P100,000; Libagon - P70,000; Liloan - P520,000; San Francisco - P10,000; San Ricardo - P50,000; Hinundayan - P20,000; Hinunangan - P100,000; and Silago - P460,000.

Report revealed that the P3-CARES is a P11.5 billion funds under RA 11469 or known as the Bayanhihan to Heal as One Act lodged by the DTI through the Small Business Corporation intended to provide assistance to enterprises affected by COVID-19 pandemic either by helping them stabilize businesses or recover from its losses.

For the P3-CARES expansion, Tourism Rehabilitation and Vitalization of Enterprises and Livelihood (CARES for Travel) Program are also included, Nuñez stated.

He informed that enterprises are qualified to apply for the CARES Program if the business is in existence for at least one year prior to March 16, 2020, with an asset size of not more the P15 million.

A minimum of P10,000 to a maximum of P500,000 can be borrowed under the said program with zero interest rate and minimal service fee of 6 percent, payable for 18 to 30 months, Nuñez said.
